We had a great morning last Friday celebrating the grand opening of the new compost toilet at the Emmanuel House Support Centre allotment plot.

Volunteers and staff stood by the new compost toilet smiling

The toilet was built using sustainable and reclaimed materials by builder James and volunteers from Emmanuel House, who did a wonderful job and learned new skills along the way.

Volunteers and participants from Windmill Community Gardens and Nature In Mind joined us for the celebration. We had refreshments and a craft activity, making pressed flowers lanterns.

The new toilet will make a big difference for everyone who attends the garden and make the allotment project accessible to more people. We feel very fortunate to have this great new facility.

Growing Forward have partnered with Emmanuel House support centre to provide social and therapeutic gardening and one-to-one talking therapy to their beneficiaries. The project closes for the winter on 18th November but if you would like to know more or are interested in joining us at the garden next spring then please contact Paylor at Emmanuel House paylor@emmanuelhouse.org.uk.
